Eugene began playing chess when he was 6 years old but did not become serious about the game until his junior year in high school. He became a USCF member in 2002. For 2 years he coached a high school chess club in upstate NY. The club competed in a county-wide school league and took 2nd place in their first year. He enjoys teaching and sharing his love for the game. Eugene is married and has 3 children. He taught both of his boys how to play chess at the age of 4. They are currently both USCF members as well. Outside of chess, Eugene loves music (he plays piano and guitar), as well as spending time with his family. He is currently a pastor at Christ Community Fellowship located in Southern Chester County.
